BROOKE LASHES OUT AT JULIAN As Brooke (Sophia Bush) angrily deals with Alex's (Jana Kramer) tryst with Julian (Austin Nichols), Lydia's (guest star Bess Armstrong) condition worsens, prompting Quinn (Shantel VanSanten) and Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) to try to reconnect with Taylor (guest star Lindsey McKeon).  Clay (Robert Buckley) is forced to deal with Katie's (guest star Amanda Schull) unsettling advances, and Nathan (James Lafferty) helps Jamie (Jackson Brundage) come to terms with Lydia's impending death.  Lee Norris, Lisa Goldstein and Antwon Tanner also star.  Joe Davola directed the episode written by Mike Daniels (#718).

BAZE JOINS CATE AND RYAN ON THE AIR - Pressured by radio station management, Cate (Shiri Appleby) and Ryan (Kerr Smith) reluctantly agree to let Baze (Kristoffer Polaha) join them on air for what turns into a public therapy session.  Lux (Britt Robertson) tries to get Jones (guest star Austin Butler) to drop the charges against her boyfriend, Bug (guest star Rafi Gavron).  Austin Basis also stars.  Nick Marck directed the episode written by executive producer Janet Leahy. TO THE HORSE RACES TO BRING DOWN THE EVIL SISTER - Navid (Michael Steger) wakes up in the hospital but has no memory of who pushed him down the stairs.  Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) visits Navid and following her conversation with him, makes a life-changing decision about her addiction to pills.  Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Teddy (guest star Trevor Donovan) bond over the loss of both of their mothers and unexpectedly get close.  Liam (Matt Lanter), Dixon (Tristan Wilds) and Ivy (guest star Gillian Zinser) learn that Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) and Jen (guest star Sara Foster) will be attending the horse races and devise a plan to finally reveal the truth to Naomi about her evil sister.  Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Jasper (guest star Zach Sherman) sneak out even though Harry (Rob Estes) and Debbie (Lori Loughlin) have grounded her.  Harry Sinclair directed the episode written by Rebecca Sinclair and Natalie Krinsky (#211).

AMANDA MOVES INTO THE COURTYARD BUILDING - Amanda (Heather Locklear) moves into Syndey's (Laura Leighton) penthouse while her Bel Air mansion is being built and takes an interest in David (Shaun Sipos).  Meanwhile, David and Lauren's (Stephanie Jacobsen) relationship continues to grow, and Ella (Katie Cassidy) uses her charms to get Jonah (Michael Rady) a new job.  Also, Amanda and Michael (Thomas Calabro) reunite.  Colin Egglesfield, Jessica Lucas and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz also star.  David Paymer directed the episode written by Dan Thompsen (#110).

A CAR ACCIDENT ROCKS THE UPPER EAST SIDE - On the anniversary of Bart Bass' death, Chuck (Ed Westwick) wrestles with an issue from the past and a serious car accident rocks the Upper East Side.  Dan (Penn Badgley) and Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) attempt to navigate their newly complicated friendship.  When Jenny (Taylor Momsen) is accused of beating up one of her classmates, Eric (guest star Connor Paolo) is faced with a tough dilemma.  Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle also star.  Jason Ensler directed the episode written by executive producer Stephanie Savage (#312).

STEFAN UNCOVERS A STARTLING CLUE TO THE PAST - Damon (Ian Somerhalder) takes a trip to Georgia, where he surprises an old flame, Bree (guest star Gina Torres, "Eli Stone") and enlists her help to figure out how to open the tomb.  In the process, Damon comes face to face with someone who is determined to make him pay for past wrongs.  Stefan (Paul Wesley) opens up to Grams (guest star Jasmine Guy) in his effort to help Bonnie (Katerina Graham) overcome her fears and accept her powers.  While researching his history paper in the public library, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) meets a cute-but-geeky girl named Anna (guest star Malese Jow, "Hannah Montana") who has her own theories on the folklore of Mystic Falls.  When Damon returns from Georgia, Stefan is waiting with news that will change their world.  Nina Dobrev and Sara Canning also star.  Dave Barrett directed the episode written by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec, with a story by Sean Reycraft (#110).

SAM AND DEAN CHECK INTO A MENTAL HOSPITAL - A former hunter named Martin (guest star), who is currently institutionalized, calls Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) for help investigating a case in the mental hospital.  The brothers get themselves admitted as patients to check out the mysterious monster that is attacking the patients, but their incarceration pushes both to the breaking point as they unleash their inner demons against each other.  Jim Conway directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin (#511).

ZOD IS SHOT - Bernard Chisholm (guest star JR Bourne), a doctor who died and was brought back to life by the Kandorians so they can experiment on him, escapes and kidnaps some Kandorians in order to prove aliens have invaded Earth.  Bernard tries to get Lois (Erica Durance) to write a story validating his claim, but when Lois refuses, he kidnaps her too.  In an effort to save his people, Zod (Callum Blue) poses as a reporter from the Daily Planet and uncovers Bernard's secret lab.  Clark (Tom Welling) arrives at the lab just in time to see Zod get shot.  Turi Meyer directed the episode written by Al Septian & Turi Meyer (#3X5265).

OLIVER TAKES DC COMICS' CHARACTER SPEEDY UNDER HIS WING - Oliver (Justin Hartley) tries to help a young street girl, Mia AKA Speedy (guest star Elise Gatien), get out of her dangerous life by offering to train her, but Mia double crosses him.  Lois (Erica Durance) asks Clark (Tom Welling) to help her land a job as an on-air television host, but the two are shocked when the station wants to hire them as a team. Allison Mack, Cassidy Freeman and Callum Blue also star.  Mike Rohl directed the episode written by Holly Henderson and Mike Whitehead (#3X5257).
