- Alexis Chikaeze
A Texas native, Chikaeze is a true southern girl, shaped by the vast landscapes, dynamic
communities, and the rich cultural traditions of the Lone Star State. As a young girl, visits to the
history museums, rodeos, pageantry, the state fair, and the blooming of the bluebonnets instilled
in her a deep appreciation for the complexities and charm of the South.
Chikaeze's journey into the world of acting was profoundly influenced by her early involvement
in the arts. She participated in numerous school and local theatre productions, taking on roles in
plays from “Annie” and “Wicked” to “Raisin in the Sun” and “Antigone.
”
At the age of 17, Chikaeze’s first professional role came about in "Miss Juneteenth,
” starring
opposite Nicole Beharie and Kendrick Sampson. Written and directed by Channing Godfrey
Peoples, the film follows a former beauty queen and single mom who is preparing her rebellious
teenage daughter for the “Miss Juneteenth” pageant. The film premiered at the Sundance Film
Festival in 2020, and Chikaeze’s performance earned her a nomination for the 2021
Independent Spirit Awards.
After fully immersing herself in the study of acting, Chikaeze embarked on the path of higher
education, beginning her studies at Howard University and Clark Atlanta University. She is now
on the path to complete her degree at the University of Southern California (USC) while
continuing to film “All American”
