CELIA OWEN
Eleanor Bennett in “Moonshine”
Celia Owen stars as Eleanor Bennett in The CW’s new series “Moonshine.” Bad-ass, budding artist with big words and big plans. Independent and mature from an early age, Eleanor was given more freedom than with Finn (Calem MacDonald), but of course Eleanor saw that as neglect. Since then, she’s thrown her energy into various causes, that is when she’s not battling with her mother (Jennifer Finnigan).
Owen is an actor, dancer, singer, and musician originally from Prince Edward Island. She began working in theatre at a very young age and has since performed across the Maritimes, Ontario, and Japan in a wide range of stage productions.
Most well known for her performances at Halifax’s Neptune Theatre, shining in productions of many different genres, as well as her portrayal of “Anne of Green Gables” for NHK television in Tokyo, Owen has performed for notable public figures such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Prince William, and Duchess Kate Middleton. Owen has also been nominated for multiple awards for her choreography, step dancing, and fiddle playing. Critics have described her singing voice as “hauntingly beautiful,” and a stage presence that “fills the whole room with warmth.”
Recently, she played the leading role in Rose Napoli’s Dora nominated play “Lo, or Dear Mr. Wells” and was reviewed to be “a rock-solid actress across the board.” Owen’s skills and captivating presence in her theatre career have recently expanded her into film and television. She landed her first film role as the leading lady in the hilarious East Coast feature “Pogey Beach” as well as a role in Adam Perry’s feature film “A Small Fortune.”
When not working Owen enjoys yoga, hiking, travel and the fiddle.
