ROBERTO AGUIRRE-SACASA

Executive Producer of “Riverdale”

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is the executive producer of “Riverdale,” based on the characters from the Archie Comics, and serves as Chief Creative Officer at Archie Comics.

Born in Washington, DC, screenwriter, award-winning playwright, and comic book writer Aguirre-Sacasa is a 2003 graduate of the Yale School of Drama. He attended Georgetown University, as well as McGill University in Montreal.

He has written for numerous television shows and feature films including the Emmy-nominated series “Big Love,” “Looking,” the hit series “Glee,” and the first season of “Supergirl.” For MGM Films, he wrote a new version of the horror classic “Carrie,” as well as a remake of the serial-killer thriller “The Town that Dreaded Sundown.”

Aguirre-Sacasa has written many critically-acclaimed plays including “Abigail/1702,” “Doctor Cerberus,” an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” “King of Shadows,” “Good Boys and True,” “Based on a Totally True Story,” “The Mystery Plays,” “The Velvet Sky,” “The Muckle Man,” “Dark Matters,” “Rough Magic” and “The Weird.” His early comedies “Golden Age” and “Say You Love Satan” have been produced around the country and were both nominated for GLAAD media awards. For Dallas Theatre Center, he wrote a new book to the classic Charles Strouse/Lee Adams musical “It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s SUPERMAN,” which paved the way for him to join the team — as co-book writer — that was brought in to overhaul the Broadway musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.” His musical adaption of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel “American Psycho” ran in London and on Broadway.
