Ellis in “Wild Cards”

Giacomo Gianniotti stars as Detective Cole Ellis, a by-the-book, sardonic cop, in The CW’s new series “Wild Cards.”

Gianniotti has had a love for the arts for as long as he can remember. Since graduating from Norman Jewison’s renowned Canadian Film Centre program in Toronto, Gianniotti has been working consistently in film and television, having most notably starred for seven seasons as “Dr. Andrew DeLuca” on “Grey’s Anatomy.” Other TV credits include “Selfie,” opposite Karen Gillan and John Cho, “Reign,” and the Lifetime mini-series “The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe,” opposite Susan Sarandon and Kelli Garner.  Most recently, he starred in the Netflix Original limited series “From Scratch,” opposite Zoe Saldana.

Selected feature film credits include the Disney animated hit film “Luca,” the Focus Features film “Race” opposite Jason Sudekis, Jeremy Irons and William Hurt, and the independent feature “Acquainted,” which he also co-produced and premiered at the Whistler Film Festival.

Gianniotti plays the lead role in the Italian language feature “Diabolik,” based on the hugely popular Italian comic book series from the 1960s. He recently wrapped shooting the Italian TV series “Inganno” for Netflix.
