Big Phil in “61st Street”

 

Jerod Haynes stars as Big Phil in The CW’s “61st Street.” 

 

Haynes is an award-winning actor from Chicago.  He received classical training after earning a scholarship to attend the prestigious BADA program at Oxford.  Haynes was honored in 2015 with the Jeff Award for his performance in Chicago’s American Blues Theater’s production of Richard Wright’s “Native Son.”  He reprised his role at Yale Rep in 2017 and acted in the film adaptation directed by Rashid Johnson, which premiered at Sundance.

 

Haynes’ other film credits include “Southside with You,” which also premiered at Sundance, and starring in the film “Benji.”  The Chicago native has appeared in multiple TV shows, including a series regular role in the Mike Daniels show “The Village.”  He also recurred on series such as “Project Blue Book,” “Good Girls” and “Chicago Med,” while guest starring on “Empire,” “Sense 8,” “Crisis,” “Will Trent” and “The Irrational.”

 

Haynes is currently shooting the limited series “Orphan,” alongside Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass and Christina Hendricks.
